There are things we know we know.
We also know there are known unknowns;
that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

I know that I know that Rebekha was born in Burton in 1769.
I know that she had a baby in 1790; Ann, my great great great grandmother.
I know that the name of the father was given as William Griffith, my great great, great, great grandfather.
I know that Rebekha married John Griffith in 1793 and had three children by him.
I know that John Griffith and Thomas Griffith died in 1805.
I know that Rebekha married Thomas William in 1806.
I know that two people named William Griffith and John Griffith can all be linked to the early days of Methodism in Pembrokeshire.
I know that a person called Rebecca William was buried in Dinas in 1809.
However I also know that there are some known unknowns.
I don’t know for sure that these three names all belong to the same narrative, or coincidentally carry the same names.
I don’t know for sure that Rebecca William was buried at St. Brynach’s in 1809. I know for sure though that her body isn’t there now. It just might be that her body was washed away by a storm.
………………………….or she was never there in the first place
